Telular Launches New Line of Fixed Cellular Phones at CTIA Wireless 2005

New CDMA2000(R) 1X and GSM/GPRS Fixed Cellular Phones Offer an Alternative to Traditional Wireline Service in Global Markets

Telular Corporation today announced the expansion of its market-leading portfolio of fixed cellular devices with a new line of Phonecell® fixed cellular phones for use on CDMA2000® 1X and GSM/GPRS networks worldwide. The new Phonecell SX6P product line allows wireless carriers around the world to provide basic phone service to their customers using the convenience of the wireless cell phone, in places where traditional wired landline service is inefficient, too costly or even impossible to deploy.

The new Phonecell SX6P-300C products use CDMA2000 1X technology and operate in either the 800 MHz or the 1900 MHz frequency band. The Phonecell products provide voice communications with near wireline quality, as well as high-speed packet data for access to the Internet, circuit-switched data and SMS text messaging in an attractive desktop phone. For Asian markets that require it, R-UIM (Removable-User Identity Module) compatibility is available as an option. The R-UIM stores both network parameters and subscriber profile, similar to the SIM (Subscriber Identity Module) used in GSM devices.

For carriers operating GSM/GPRS networks, Telular's new Phonecell SX6P-300G products provide dual-band coverage in either the 850/1900 MHz frequencies or the 900/1800 MHz frequencies. These products also provide high-quality voice, along with high-speed GPRS packet data, circuit-switched data and SMS text messaging. Supporting popular GSM supplementary services, the Phonecell SX6P GSM/GPRS products provide consumers with the convenience of the wireless cell phone for home, office and commercial uses. The SX6P also features AMR (Advanced Multi Rate vocoder) to optimize speech quality and efficiency. The products are ideal for both TDMA operators evolving their networks to GSM and GSM operators expanding their network coverage.

"This product line allows us to provide a range of choices to our customers around the world."

The Phonecell SX6P phones include convenient text messaging using a large, easy-to-read backlit LCD display and backlit keypad. The phones come with several standard convenience features including speakerphone, large phone book capable of storing up to 99 entries, speed dialing, and up to three stored emergency numbers. An optional internal rechargeable battery is also available, which enables backup operation in case of power outages. The products also support multiple languages for worldwide markets, and can be placed on a desktop or wall-mounted.

"Telular's Phonecell products have been very well received in both CDMA and GSM markets around the world," noted Krevitt. "Our new SX6P models are now undergoing type approval with the world's major wireless carriers, and are available for immediate volume shipments as these approvals are completed."

Telular's Phonecell SX6P phones will be showcased at booth #2745 and at the Wireless Home display (exhibit #7115) at CTIA Wireless taking place March 14-16, 2005 in New Orleans.
